Dan is an experienced tutor who has provided Academic, SAT, ACT, and GRE tutoring since 2012, as well as help with undergraduate and graduate college applications

Locally, Dan's high school students typically come from a variety of schools that include Stevenson School, York School, Notre Dame, Palma, Santa Catalina, Monterey High School, Carmel High School, Salinas High School, Monte Vista High School, San Benito High School, and Trinity Christian. Outside of the area, schools include Philips Academy Andover, Harker School, Webb, Cate, Amador High School, Soquel High School, and Aptos High School.

He also works occasionally with elementary or middle school students, such as those from Stevenson Lower School, Santa Catalina, and Palma.

Sessions are held anywhere that is most convenient: on campus, at home, in a cafe, in a local library, etc. Internet-based sessions are available for long-distance tutoring or for those who simply prefer to meet over the internet.

He provides academic tutoring, particularly for Math, English, and History. He has worked with students on Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra 2, Precalc, Calculus AB and BC, college-level Calculus I and II, AP English, World History, AP World History, US History, AP US History, Integrated Science, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, AP Biology, AP Physics, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

He also tutors all areas of the SAT and ACT, including the Math, Reading, Writing, English, Science and Essay sections, as well as the PSAT. He has also helped multiple students with the SSAT and GRE.

On the current version of the SAT, which has a 1600 point maximum, his current student improvement record is a total score increase of 330 points, with multiple students having achieved perfect Math or Reading and Writing scores. He has also helped students raise their overall ACT scores by as much as 7 points, including several students who earned 34s or 35s. A student rejected from AP English studied with him for one month, re-took her placement exam, and passed; she subsequently became one of the top students in her AP English class. Other students have had similar success. Some dreamed of getting into their top school choices or qualifying for important scholarships; it has been Dan's great privilege and pleasure to help them succeed.

In regards to college applications, Dan has helped scores of students with applications to schools ranging from state schools to the Ivies. He has also helped with graduate school essays for Business, Medical, Dental, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy schools.

All ability levels are welcome. His past students include many top achievers at their schools, including multiple valedictorians and salutatorians, but also average students and those with low grades. He provides encouragement and support regardless. He is also very experienced working with students facing challenges such as ADHD and clinical depression.
